Leica

Leica

C'mon! Who doesn't JUANT a Leica camera?! This is like the camera of all cameras!

Ever since I met my mentor/idol/godfather Raul Jorolan, a local film/tv ad director/artist/painter, you name it he is it-kinda guy, we worked on his company's logo - Hot Salad Production. After endless discussions over coffee at Starbucks, we also talked about photography. He'd bring his trusted Panasonic camera with a Leica lens and take photos of anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere. Man, this guy's got the eye (not the scary one)! If I'm not mistaken, one of his favorite places to shoot is the Hong Kong Airport! Of all the places in the world haha! Oh when will we be proud of our airport again?! But that's another story.

Moving on. Direk Raul, or Direk RJ, as the rest would call him, I asked him which camera would he want. Of course he answered Leica right away - the film one. But as the saying goes, "The best camera is the one you have", we only had Nokia and Sony. The iPhone wasn't born yet, no VSCo, Snapseed, and all those apps that makes everybody a self proclaimed photographer. Then Direk Raul told me, you just have to open your eyes and be more observant. Look at all the textures, colors, composition and juxtaposition of things and snap away. I really learned a lot from him in a span of a week working together. People really do come in your life to make an impact and bring out the best in you. I certainly believe that. Thank you Direk.
